An ideal shop is in operation, and experts teach the mechanics from dealers' establishments establish-ments how to service Chevrolet cars in minimum time, using special equipment. CHEVROLET EDUCATES SERVICE MEN One of the outstanding developments develop-ments of the automotive Industry in the last decade is the perfection of service . facilities so that motor car owners can have necessary work done wherever and whenever it Is needed. Just as medical men are stressing the need of preventive medicine so the automobile manufacturer and dealer are emphasizing the need of preventive inspection, oiling and greasing greas-ing for the modern automobile. ' "Service facilities for Chevrolet cars are world wide, and growing apace," stated E. W. Fuhr, regional manager of the Chevrolet Motor Company, in outlining Chevrolet's great nationwide nation-wide service program. "The Chevrolet Motor Company has taken a forward step by providing service ser-vice schools for mechanics. These schools are in operation throughout the United States, and are used to educate mechanics in the use of special spe-cial equipment and tools so that time can be saved In the repairing of the car, "A 'flat rate' system has been in operation for several years, which eliminates eli-minates the guess work from automobile auto-mobile costs. This system is based on the average time and material cost of definite Jobs. A car owner can go into a Chevrolet dealer's service department de-partment and know exactly what the repair job will cost him. "In addition to providing adequate service facilities, the Chevrolet dealer deal-er and his mechanics are taught to keep their shops clean and bright so that the motorist driving into one of them, can be sure that his Job will be done right. '.'Millions and millions of dollars are being spent every 3'ear in the servicing servic-ing and repairing of automobiles. Recognizing Re-cognizing the importance of adequate service facilities the Chevrolet Motor Company is Insisting that all the dealers deal-ers associated with the company, provide pro-vide facilities and keep those facilities facili-ties at the highest point of efficiency at all times. "If a motor car Is properly handled there is no need for frequent repairs. Proper treatment means greasing and oiling at regular intervals, inspection, so that minor repairs at small cost can be made which will eliminate major repairs at greater cost. "There is great satisfaction atd peace of mind in knowing that the Chevrolet owner Is never more than a few miles from expert service with parts supplies handy so that there need be no delay, , . "In addition to service schools and service shops throughout the country, coun-try, the company maintains parts warehouses so that no dealer is more than one day removed from a complete stock of parts, ready to ship at a moment's mo-ment's notice. "These parts depots have solved a huge problem for Chevrolet dealers throughout the world. Over a period-of period-of years the company has learned the necessary quantities to keep on hand. "In order to maintain these world ' wide depots it was necessary to train a group of experts, and these men have trained others so that there is always adequate man power to maintain main-tain a steady flow of replacements." |
