Show j 1 WASHINGTON'S ASHINGTON'S V BIRTHDAY Again our minds turn back the p pages of history to study if only briefly the life of another of our great men George Washington the father of our country whose anniversary occurs next Monday February So varied were his abilities and so well vell rounded out his life that whatever our interests we ve can learn something of v value lue to ourselves from the many pages I chronicling his activities As the leader of our armies when the li liberty erty and very existence of our colonies was vas at stake as the super statesman who vho guided the destinies of the great I country he helped establish through the period of its governmental formation as a private citizen who vho loved and was vas loved by his neighbors an and friends he has set an example we can all profitably follow v as a goal to greater achievements NEW QUARTERS FOR THE RECORD With this issue we ve present to you the first Uintah Uintah Uin- Uin tah Basin Record published in our new v location in inthe inthe inthe the building on Duchesne's Duchesne s main sir street set The change in location i is s one which we ve have long contemplated contemplated contemplated plated and finally realized one which we hope will vill enable us to better serve you both as newspaper publishers pub pub- lishers ushers and as commercial printers We welcome a visit from you and an inspection of our newly vly arranged ed plant We feel fed that a community newspaper ne even though privately owned and published is is pretty much of a community enterprise ise a mouthpiece and a booster boost boost- er for the community and its individuals The good we are able to accomplish depends upon the cooperation cooperation cooperation cooper cooper- and support we receive from om the community and its individuals Cooperation comes of interest and knowledge kno Come in hi tell us your problems we ve will be interested and ti ve we may be able to help you solve them or to tp at least understand them better IN APPRECIATION In moving to our new v location we ve necessarily sever ever a business relationship with our good cod friend and booster Judge H Hollenbeck that of renter and landlord a relationship which has at all times been most agreeable While we ve feel that the move in in itself will vill add greatly to our plant efficiency we ve at the same time are sorry to leave Mr Hollenbeck as he is probably sorry to lose us We vVe pause here to express the appreciation w we ve a feel of the fine support h he e has given the Uintah Basin Record throughout its exist exist- ence L L. A. A Hollenbeck as long as we can remember has been the staunchest and most unselfish supporter support support- er of Duchesne's Duchesne s newspaper Moral support editorial contributions and finances all have been given even freely and abundantly by the Judge often with no assurance assurance assurance assur assur- ance of returns other than his individual faith in the good a newspaper can accomplish for any ty We believe we ve are safe in going even so far as to say that were vere it not for Judge H Hollenbeck the newspaper newspaper news vs paper would have been unable to carry on through more than one of its periods of trial in in its its past his his- tory tort Mr Hollenbeck I is not the type of person who makes much noise or ore show v when he does things but he will win back his own o judgment to the limit and when he decides something is good cod for himself or for his community he acts accordingly even though he may be called upon to make personal sacrifices Such has been his action in connection with Duchesne's newspaper newspaper news news- paper paper and as s the present guiders of its future e destiny destiny destiny des des- tiny a and nd recipients of his good will vill we ve offer him our sincere thanks |
