Show Dog Days I v f r l f i MISCONSTRUING THE ISSUE There can be little doubt concerning the motive behind behind behind be be- hind the attempted school board move left in the mind of anyone reading the editorial in the last issue of the Roosevelt Standard Roosevelt citizens it said have decided to fight it out even though it has hasto hasto hasto to go into the higher courts for a final decision Though Roosevelt's attitude on the question has been understood from the first we ve hardly expected them to officially enter the issue with such a state state- ment They misconstrue the issue entirely The case at court is brought by a citizen of Duchesne county against the school board restraining them from spending tax money to make an unnecessary move of the school board offices Duchesne citizens are not parties to the case Neither are Roosevelt citi citi- zens As to the hint that the judge was vas unable to make a decision because he was vas disturbed b by clamoring clamoring clamor ing politicians politicians' it- it was vas the general opinion that h he e edid did make a pretty clean cut decision in instructing the counsel for the board to show a necessity for removing removing re re- re moving the office and we ve rather suspect that it would take more than a few clamoring politicians to disturb the Hon Abe Turner CHARLES WILLIAM BAKER Duchesne business houses closed their then doors foran for foran foran an hour Wednesday in honor and respect of Charles William Baker while funeral services were vere being conducted over his remains in the town hall Bill Baker was vas the president of the Duchesne Commercial Commercial Commer Commer- cial club which has as its aim the improvement of business and social conditions in Duchesne and Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- Du- Du chesne county and it was vas fitting indeed that the businessmen businessmen bus bus- many of them members of the club should thus h honor ono his last rites Mr Baker was a builder and a pusher and his efforts ef ef- ef forts along civic lines will vill be missed many times in Duchesne He was vas always looking for some worthwhile worthwhile worth worth- while project to sponsor baseball sports of various kinds road projects city improvements celebrations etc always appealing t to o his time and efforts When he and a fe few v others started the organization tion of the Commercial oi club the going w was as hard and adverse criticism was vas not lacking but h he a kept on doggedly sure in in his own o mind that the clubs club's beneficial bene bene- purposes would v win in n out in the end It was characteristic of him that h he e should have come to his untimely end on an errand not for his own o gain but i in n the interests of another civic civic project pro pro- Duchesne's Duchesne s coming Labor Da Day celebration This project like others of the future will of course g go o on but it is is going to be hard to find another man with the same interest and willingness as Bill Baker in m the role of sponsor To his widow vido and to his son and family we ve ex extend tend our sympathy and hope that the they shall find comfort and strength in in the unity of family so strongly woven en into their lives by their guide and leader who vho is is now V gone SUCCESS TO THE FIREMEN'S CONVENTION Dr W W.
