Show J " TRUTHS. Furious J. Cannon was driven to desperation on account of not being appointed by tbe governor on the committee to receive the congressional congres-sional delegation. Hearing that Mayor Glasmann had gone fishing, Cannon boarded a train, and made for Bllltown. Ho tried to make the followers of Bill believe that the mayor had neglected them, and that it would be a terriblo calamity calam-ity If the congressional delegation was allowed to go through Ogden without being given a reception at the depot. Cannon received the Icy hand from the congressional party. Bill, hearing of Cannon's raid on his town, hurried to the seat of war, arriving just after Cannon's departure. The calamity that might have taken place had these two wordy champions met, would beggar description. The Herald takes exception to the placing of Postmaster Clove on the congressional reception committee. It wans to know how Clove would size up with such a man as ex-Senator Rawlins. We have nothing but the kindest of feelings toward Rawlins, but think the governor's choice of Mr. Clove all right. Sunny Jim Clove is a heavyweight on a reception committee, com-mittee, and has very few peers in the state. Clove always has a smile that won't wear off, while Rawlins' face would congeal a "hot Scotch." Rawlins Is all right in his place, but give us men like Clove every time when It comes to entertaining visitors. visit-ors. What a jolly old time the boys will have with that $100,000 that Dubois and Cannon have raised from the benighted be-nighted females of the east. Cannon and Dubois are royal fellows in a bar room, and few go dry in their pres- ence. |
