In its dramatized form, "The Vir- '"A' ginian" is displayed in four acts, the first at Uncle Hcwie's, the second at Judge Henry's ranch, the third at the camp of the horse thieves, and the fourth in Medicine Bow, Wyoming, and is known to be a faithful picture i T 7 ja nv"ty 2wVAYJk, BBV MR. In the first act, the Virginian comes as a guest to the party at Uncle Howie's, in the hope of becoming better acquainted with the new school mistress, whom he has previously saved from drowning, when the stage coach, in which she arrived, was in danger of tipping over in the river. His advances arc spumed, but he is persistent. In this act he renews his quarrel with Trampas, the villainous range rider, and finally assuages his defeat in love by mixing up the babies left sleeping in an adjoining room. The second act at Judge Henry's ranch shows the Virginian promoted to be foreman of the outfit, relates his slow but determined progress in the love affair with Molly Wood, discloses dis-closes his wclh meant, friendship for Steve, who seems likely to go wrong under the influence of Trampas, and ends with the Virginian's being sent at the head of the vigilantes to capture cap-ture the cattle thieves. ;,; The third act discloses the capture of Steve and Spanish Ed. in the cattle cat-tle thieves' camp, and closes with their hanging, and the last act brings I the characters to Medicine Bow for the Celebration of the Virginian's wedding to Mlolly Wood. Trampas is here and drunk and threatens to drive the Virginian from town. The two meet and in an exciting duel, after af-ter the manner of the West, Trampas Tram-pas is killed. i o |
