Show "JOKE" DROVE OLD MAN INSANE. Prank Played by Thoughtless Youths Has Sad Result. B. B. Mcsser, farmer, C5 years of age, who lives near hero, is hopelessly Insane, duo to an alleged joko played upon hUn by his grandsons, says a dispatch from Huntington, W. Va. Recently lie gave a dinner, to which his children and grandchildren were Invited. Whllo at this reunion six of his grandsons, ranging from 1G to 30 years of age, who reside at a distance dis-tance from tho Messer homestead, planned, as a joke, that each one should wri'.o tho old man a letter the following week. Each letter was to express solicitude for his safety, since tho writer had dreamed that his grandfather grand-father had died, and also was to adjure ad-jure tho old man to tako extra care ol himself. The letters arrived one by one. On Monday tho first was received; Tuesday Tues-day tho second; Wednesday and Thursday like letters followed each other with tho same dark foreboding. Tho result was that tho old man allowed al-lowed tho matter to prey upon his mind so heavily that by Saturday ho lost his reason and will be confined in an asylum. |
