Show The Tribune on Saturday last had a picture of a half-burnt candle, around which moths and things were fluttering and "getting theirs" as such things do when they get a chance. "The moth and the flame" is always an object lesson, and properly prc- f scnted can be made a very effective argument. In the case above noted the Tribune Icxccllcd itself in the ,. , matter of effectiveness. The appro priateness of its figurative representation represen-tation was characterized by aptness to begin with a very unusual thing with that paper and that form ok illustration which makes the subject plain without racking the mind another unusual thing. The candle so near its fitful close, and which has already caused the destruction of some of those who hang around it as well as the injury of many more is labeled "The American party." Such candor on the part of our contemporary con-temporary will always meet with like candor in the way of acknowledgment. |
