Show A KNOWING PUP. "Uncle Billy" Castlcton, an attache at-tache of the Lyric theatre, has a little black-and-white Spitz - fox terrier dog glory:ng in the name of Ulo. Ulo is a pet around the theatre and at the Castlcton home, and five minutes min-utes with him convinces one that he is as bright a little dog as ever chased a cat. Some time ago Ulo distinguished himself and won a home with the police department of this city in giving a burglar alarm when two night prowlers were about to enter en-ter the Monterey rooming house, just below the postoffice on Main street. Ulo set up an awful barking and chased the two men into the arms of the law. Ulo is an early riser and likes to be out and doing with the sun. To awaken his master and tell him politely that it is time to begin the day's labors, he carries both stockings in his mouth to his master's mast-er's bed-side and scratches upon the side of the bed until he succeeds in shattering "Uncle Billy's" dreams ot packed houses and curtain calls and gallery gods that don't shoot spit-balls. spit-balls. Better than an alarm clock eh? And quite effective. Just now Ulo is recovering from a broken leg and is delighted beyond measure at being able once more to scurry around as of yore. So are his many human friends, who would rather be hurt themselves than have an injury befall the lively little black-and-white. n |
