Show TRUTHS. ,i Although democrats have not been t very numerous cither in this state or v" in the nation of late years, the party is not by any means dead. This was made evident on Thursday eveninjr at the Commercial club when a large number of the faithful celebrated Jefferson Jef-ferson day by a banquet and patriotic and enthusiastic addresses. L. R. Martincau was toastmastcr and speeches were made by John Dern, Mrs. H. J. Hay ward, J. R. Letcher, Stephen L. Richards, Mrs. E. J. D. Roundy, S. R. Thurman, Frank K. Ncbckcr, C. S. Varian, Thomas N, Taylor. Fisher Harris, and Mrs. Rebecca Re-becca Brown. It was a representative gathering and the evening passed most pleasantly. The keynote was Bryan for president, hope and a determination de-termination to fight to the last ditch, win or lose. |
