The appointment appoint-ment is a very good one, Mr. Eldrcdge El-drcdge being a man of mature judgment judg-ment and with experience in legal matters. He was chief deputy sheriff fpr four years and held other positions posi-tions which gave him such experience as is necessary in a court clerk. State Fish and Game Commissioner Commission-er Cromar is busy planting fish fry in the streams of the state. lie recently received 1,500,000 fry from the hatcheries hatch-eries and has planted quite a number of them in the streams of Tooele, Weber, Cache and Davis counties, and in due course will get around to the other counties of the state. It is a pleasure as well as a profit to Salt Lakers that the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake railroad is again running through trains. The road has had exceedingly bad luck in sustaining so mlany and so extensive exten-sive washouts. It is sincerely to be hoped such disasters wont' happen again. About the only ray of sense we have noticed in the editorial page ot the Herald for a long time was a few mornings ago when an article appeared ap-peared advising the participants in the local so-called religious fight to lay down their arms, (the jaw hones of asses) and quit. iglrTeTwii - '.'itom'i BIG CROWDS AT THE LYRIC. This week the Lyric theatre participated parti-cipated to the full in the great patronage pa-tronage enjoyed by all the amusement amuse-ment houses. Every performance at the Lyric was crowded to capacity of the house and the offerings were such as merited and received appreciation. appre-ciation. The coming week's bill is well up to the standard. Roland Travcrs is perhaps the very greatest illusionist of the day. Edscll and Forbes, the Jeromes and Fremont and the Messenger Boy trio of singers sing-ers arc attractions extraordinary.
