Show VENERABLE PIONEER PASSES TO HER JANET DIES SUNDAY NIGHT OVER 90 00 YEARS OF AGE FAITHFUL CHURCH WORKER janet wife of patriarch george lied died at the family residence on south main street last sun day night oct 26 at the age of 90 years mrs was born at kil hil mor cornock morno nock ek ayrshire scotland january 6 1829 and she along with her fat fathers tiers family become the converts of the first latter day si saint aint elders who visited her native town she was the daughter of john lyon and janet thomson in 1848 she was married to george in their native country and in the year 1856 they immigrated to tg america and lived in new york city for four years in 1860 mrs with her husband crossed the plains in jesse murphys Murp hys ox team train they lived in salt lake city for one year and in 1861 moved moyce to tooele thoele where they have resided ever since being one of our most worthy citizens and a faithful worker in the church mrs filled the position of president in the ward relief society for a number 0 of years as well as other positions she is survived by her husband patriarch ge george J orge age 93 years to whom she was married 71 years she was the other mother of eleven children six of vh om survive e her namely janet dunn thomas christina park ellen stewart and matthew s all of tooele thoele utah and mrs lillias tanner of whitney idaho she is also survived by fifty grandchildren and sixty one great grandchildren the funeral service over the remains of sister was held in in the south ward meeting house wednesday afternoon bishop councilor peter M clegg conducting the services the choir rendered the selection when first the florous light of truth prayer was offered by elder B L bowen the choir then rendered the selection sister thou was mild and lovely president C R mcbride was the first speaker and eulogized the life and works ot the deceased S W lee rendered the solo oh my father president C alvin orme was the next speaker and his remarks showed the faithful work that had been performed by the deceased luring during her active life in the ward mr andars and mrs leo isgreen rendered the duet the morning break the shadows flee the final speaker was bishop david lyon of ensign ward he is a brother of mrs and spoke of the early conversion of the deceased to the gospel the choir rendered as aa the closing selection god be with you till we meet again elder john A bevan offered the closing prayer the interment took place at the tooele thoele city cemetery bishop E M atkin dedicated the grave |
