Show A missionary LETTER aiton E note the following letter was received from rider elder rulon A who is laboring in the southern states misson and although addressed personally we feel assured that the inform atlon therelo therein contained will be ot of interest to our rea readers derst chattanooga tenn teen may 27 1919 alex F dunn tooele thoele utah dear brother it his has been about a month since I 1 left the fertile valleys of the and the good saints in zion but never the less my love for them his has not decreased in the least but rather has had a tendency to increase since I 1 returned to the mission missionfield field I 1 have seen and heard many things which have added strength and knowledge to my testimony of the gospel the gentiles are beginning to give heed and lend an ear to the teachings of the elders and the people generally are beginning to realize that mormonism is a message of joy peace and importance to them in many places where elders have been mobbed persecuted and even killed kille d the spirit of god Is softening the hearts of the people and many of thesa them are accepting baptism at the hands of those who arf are called of god by prophesy and by the laying on of hands to administer in the ordinances of the gospel I 1 had the privilege of laboring in florida for or about four months and I 1 can truthfully say that while there I 1 was greatly surprised to see how hun hungry rry the people were for or the word of the lord while labor laboring log in id the city of jacksonville aie lis my companion compan ron ion and 1 I with the aid of two lady missionaries succeeded in converting conver tinK and baptising baptizing bap about fifteen persons most of whom were adults of course we acknowledge and very much appreciate the fact that the hand of the lord was aiding and directing us in all that we accomplished moreover many people who were non mormons knew of the healing power of the holy priesthood which we bore and we were often called upon to administer to them and through their faith united with our faith the lord in his great mercy saw nt fit to heat heal them from their afflictions I 1 the people of the south it seems a are r e naturally I 1 inclined to read the bible and they are very devout in their belief in talking with them a person can readily see that they put a great deal of faith in the words of the pro peets both of the old and the new testament probably more so than out our people in the west who have the blessings of the lord shoy showered ered upon them constantly when the people of the south see a miraculous healing or gr see the power of the almighty demonstrated in some other form they regard it more as a miracle which it is in very deed than we as latter day saints do they are coming to realize and understand I 1 that the same gifts of prophesy healing tongues ton guei interpretations etc that were on the earth in the time of christ are also alio being enjoyed by the people of this day and 9 generation ene ration it has been said by many a sectarian minister with all due respects to the cre creador edor sect that he may represent that as soon as john the revelator said amen the doors of heaven were s sealed 1 up and no more dreams visions or revelations would woul dor or could be given to the people but I 1 want to testily tetti fy as a humble servant of the true and living god ns are being Te received delved from time to time by the leaders of the church of jesus christ ot of latter day bay saints and that we are indeed living in the last days when the ilia judgements judge ments of god goa are to be poured I 1 put out upon all flesh the things for we as servants of the lord to consider ue me that tbt te adge dudec merits meets of the lord loid are upon the earth and that they are beginning at the house of the lord as we are told in the first epistle of peter the fourth chapter and the seventeenth verse for the time Is ii come when that judgement jud gement a t must begin tit at the house of god and it if it first begin at us what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of god perhaps it would be well for or me to stop here so asking you to extend my best wishes to all and praying that the blessings of the lord may be upon us allo all I 1 remain truly your friend and brother in the gospel ELDER RULON A box chattanooga hatano oga tenn |
