Show FISH AND GAME ; HIGHLIGHTS Field reports coming in, as well as actual participation by department employees shows the recent dpening of fne Utah fish-ing fish-ing season to have been the most successful opening in years. Ideal weather , plus a comprehensive stocking program were two of the determining factors in this success. From the Cache Valley section on the north to the southern sections sec-tions of the state reports of the exceptional fishing continue to come in. Director J. Perry Egan announces an-nounces that ample stocks of legal le-gal fish are still being held in the hatcheries to replenish the waters of the state as the sea- son goes on. He feels that while the early success of the opening cannot toe maintained, the department de-partment is making every effort to maintain a restocking program pro-gram at its maximum level. Most waters of the southern sections of the state are low for this season of the year. A continued con-tinued draught in these areas may seriously effect the fish populations. Director Egan announces the completion of the two sports-mens sports-mens camp grounds at Strawberry Straw-berry reservoir. Under agreement agree-ment with the Strawberry Water Users' Ass'n., these camp grounds have been built to accomodate sportsmen utilizing this area for hunting and fishing. One camp ground is located just off the highway at the north east corner of the reservoir. The lower camp is located just south west of the Strawberry Dam on the site of the old, original camp grounds. Both camps are fenced, both have a tooat slip, spring water wa-ter and toilet facilities. The director feels that the camps satisfy a long-felt need for camping facilities in the Strawberry area. Automatic gates gat-es will be installed at both camp sites in the near future. Department Depart-ment spokesmen urge the cooperation coop-eration of the sportsmen in maintaining main-taining these camps in a clean and orderly manner. |
