Show Guest speaker of the evening will be Scott M. Matheson, United Unit-ed States District Attorney. Mr. Matheson has been a leading member of the Utah Bar for many years. Prior to his appointment appoint-ment as U. S. attorney more than two years ago, he served as assistant as-sistant to U. S. Attorney Dan B. Shields, who held the office for more than ten years. PROCLAMATION By proclamation of the pov-ernor, pov-ernor, by speakers, window displays dis-plays and other activities, the printing industry of Utah will bring to the attention of the people this week the important place this multimillion dollar industry in-dustry holds in the cultural and economic life of the state. In issuing his proclamation to Jean Nuttall, who has been officially of-ficially designated as "Miss Printer's Devil" of 1951, Governor Gover-nor J. Bracken Lee cited the great strides made, in printing over the years and especially during the past two or more decades. de-cades. He called on the people to note the splendid public service rendered ren-dered the state by the daily and country press and other printers, and declared that it was largely because of a free press that America Am-erica has been able to achieve the great industrial, cultural and educational position sht holds in the world today. One of the leading window displays was installed in the Salt Lake City offices of the Utah Power & Light Company. This display which was contributed by the various printing plants of the city traced the history of printing and the various methods meth-ods of printing today. The week's activities will wind up with a dinner meeting Friday, Fri-day, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the Hotel Utah. Several hundred members of the industry as well as leaders of state, county and city, are expected to attend. |
