Show field stream by vernon W shields now that we have a new govern or taking office soon it will be interesting to note what changes will take place in our fish and game program no doubt there will some changes how drastic I 1 do not know we can only hope that whatever change may come will be for the benefit of both the sports men of utah and our wild life resources J bracken lee received the support of most all of utah sportsmen in the hopes that he would improve certain conditions that exist at the present time dur ing his campaign mr lee express ed himself as being di satisfied with the present board of big game control set up the sportsmen vot ed for him because they hoped something would be done in the way of improving our management of big game our game problems are not handled correctly and this is one of the most important lems that should be solver to the satisfaction of everone concerned it is my opinion that the big game management department Is the on ly department in our state that needs a complete overhauling our department under the direct on of marion J madsen is doing about all that can be done mr madsen is a recognized authority on fish and fish raising he Is without a doubt one of the best men in the united states the only things we need along this line Is more hatcheries and more water the educational department and the law enforcement department are doing an exceptionally fine job ob I 1 don t see how many improve ments merits can be made in either of the departments don t forget we have some darn good men in our pre sent fish and game department we need a change in our big game management set up and we need it bad from all indications the grants grant s ville lions clubs posted hunting g area was a huge success this year A program of this kind has its ts merits and if handled cor correctly in the future will be quite an asset to grantsville Grants ville if they will take this th ng in hand plant lots of pheasants feed them and take care of them and see to it that all poaching is stopped then they can make themselves some dough and both the landowner and hunt er will be more satisfied I 1 dont don t think anyone objects to paying a one dollar fee if they can get some good hunting and go where they want without be beng ng kicked off forty thousand questionnaire question aire alre cards aie being prepared by the utah F sh ar ard d game came department for the annual post season census taken on the buck deer water fowl ind pheasant hunts the cards will be sent out over the state from license receipt records and a one hund red per cent check will be made on these cards if you receive one of these cards for gosh sakes make it t out correctly and shoot it into the department let s not let them get any mistaken ideas about the great hordes of wild ife 1 fe we have rutih s elk season is now in full wing swing it will last I 1 nov twenty five fie perm ts is fifteen bull and ten cows were issued for the heaston preserve seven tooele thoele co men were lucky n the drawing thea are perre pierre castagno rob ert dav s den clen nelson A r hig ley B 11 S adney hulling er and jick jack bunim the spec al deer hunt will be I 1 e d on no november ember 27 running thru I 1 december 6 on the heaston preserve pie servo serve both middle and settle v ment canyons es will be closed to this hunt the post card portion of the special deer permits must be completely filled out and returned to the fish and game department not later than five days after the close of the deer season for the unit on wh ch the kill is made all such cards must be returned indicating ind eating cating kill no kill or no hunt and for heavens sake lay off the does if you have a permit for this special hunt why not get a buck or nothing |
