Show by ELSIE GREEN it gasn wasn t so long ago that mr caldwell our music teacher began making plans for a community band now that would be a good idea I 1 thought when I 1 heard a bout it and so I 1 have been patient ly waiting for the sun to rise on this project he is now ready to organize the band first he has run an ad on the screen to tell the public about this new venture and to tell them when to meet and to bring their instruments when they came if they were interested well it seems that some people were in and specially the school kids they turned out in almost full force mr caldwell says I 1 had about 34 of the school kids but not a gr great eat deal of representation fr from am the community I 1 guess I 1 shall wait until college it out and the boys and girls have returned there are probably a lot at college who would be interested in a band now I 1 ve got to wait until the kids come back from school to see that band really materialize well don t just sit around and look wise you people I 1 for pity sakes get back of mr caldwell and let s have a good band you just can cant t let grantsville Grants ville wither dry up and blow away come on folks let lets s support mr caldwell and show the county that grantville Grant sille can really do something when they take a notion the band is going to tice tuesday wednesday and I 1 thursday of every week get your I 1 instruments and let s jo n the band I 1 I 1 mrs annie H green has gone to salt lake for a short visit she plans to return home this satur day she is staying at the home of her son charles mr and mrs R B anderson are proud to announce the birth of a daughter she was bom born may 31 at the di aldous hospital seen at the intermountain jun lor fat rat stock show were david lawrence his father and a lot of other people dave and his dad are pretty proud people they came near having the grand champion lamb but instead they just settled for a first place they had six sheep at the show and fn fi e of them won a first place ribbon the other one placed second really good luck I 1 d say and I 1 want to wish them plenty of luck in their furth er stock show ventures on sunday evening in the first ward they had a program honor ng the pioneers it was under the d of the sunday school rachel frandsen and wayne dark clark were the speakers mrs frandsen ave a brief history of her grand mother and great grandmother mr clarks speech was on some of the lotes iotes of tooele thoele valley history chich many of us do not know he of the early settlers and a few of their trials one thing I 1 kemem her ber in particular grantsville Grants ville has had two newspapers printed right there in town at various times I 1 cant can t remember the names of the papers but R D halladay printed one and john T flinders printed the other one the program ws asi very interesting and enjoyed by all who were NN ere present on the same evening in the sec ond ward a farewell testimonial was held for brother la verne sm th he has been called on a mission to brazil me mc coy johnson was the speaker and the music was furnished by the choir and by bishop and mrs R sterling halla day it was a lovely program en joyed by a large crowd this will make 12 missionaries for the grantsville Grants ville second ward quite a record for the second ward I 1 wish them lots of luck and I 1 hope they keep up the good work |
