| Show flig hway 40 4 59 50 to be widened led says road commission work will commence within very few days an interview with rc ro mc L leece bece chief engineer for the utah state road commission brought out the fact that highways and were to be resurfaced and widened from mills junction the point where the tooele thoele highway meets them to timpe point west of grantsville Grants ville for about a distance of 25 miles the present surface will be removed the road graded traded to 26 feet wide instead of the 20 feet at present and a new 2 inch oil surface applied the work will commence within the next few weeks and will be determined by the armal of a new oil mixing machine just purchased by the road commission the new oil and gravel mi mixing ng machine is the first to come into utah and the first to be bought by the commission it has a an n e ex x large capacity ani and a w will i I 1 tay lay the ready mixed oil and gravel at a fast rate the machine is on order now and delivery is expected within ten days the machine will be used for the first time on the proposed improvements on high ways 40 and 50 another road that when corn com plated will be of vital importance to tooele thoele is the secondary high way construction that is being done from boulder the tooele thoele juab county line 9 miles north of dun bar at present the road is being graded to a generous width and as soon as that is done it will be graveled grading is to cost 82 and the graveling and addi dional this present plan is to come as far north as dunbar and then turn west to join the pre sent road into vernon later ad dit ional units will be added to bring the road up the west side of the railroad tracks to the st john station according to commissioner layton maxfield of the utah state road commission this road has the first priority in the secondary roads in tooele thoele county and that they are planning to spend about a year on it with eventual oiling from st john to tintic gintic june tion and all work done to govern ment standards this particular highway will be an important link on the proposed truck highway th that atwill will go through tooele thoele and south following the railroad tracks into los angeles it will be much shorter than high way 91 and within a short time traffic will have reached capacity on 91 making this road a vital necessity |
