Each day you made deposits in the memory banks of the players. Thank you for making them champions. ' 'I. b' s ' 1 r" (');. '. . . H ; The Pleasant Grove 10U All Star baseball team con-cluded their quest for the 2011 Wasatch Baseball As-sociation State Champion-ship with a dominating win over the number one seeded American Fork All Star team. The PG All Stars played seven games and went unde- -' feated throughout the three day tournament. Led by MVP performances from Jackson Hill, Conner Robley and Carter Pentelute, it all began on Saturday, June 23 with a decisive 12 - 2 win over a solid Herriman All Star team. All throughout the tour-nament, Pleasant Grove demonstrated their ability to crush the ball and move around the bases. Power hit-ters like Kyle Gassman, Sky-le- r Herrera, Harrison (Big Papi) Grant and Ethan Mac-Gillvr-were in true form Pentelute at short stop and Conner Robley playing sec-ond base, the First baseman Zach Veenker recorded out after out. The outfield was led masterfully by the play of Dallin Farris, Jackson Hill, Ethan MacGillvray, Micah Merrell, Kaden Blackhurst, Bridger Carson, Teagon Wis-com-and Conner Sturgis. Each time a ball was put in play, these outfielders were quick, decisive and instinc-tively knew what to do to minimize damage. Remark-able efforts behind the plate were turned in by catchers Kyle Gassman and Micah Merrell. As Teagon Wiscombe threw the final pitch of the tournament and Dallin Far-ris made a superb catch in deep left field to seal the fi-nal out for Pleasant Grove, the 10U AAA Division State Back row, I to r: Jeremy Herrera, Gary Hill, Brian Farris and Mat Pen-telute. Outstanding pitching, demonstrated from ten different Pleasant Grove pitchers - Teagon Wiscombe, Kaden Blackhurst, Con-ner Sturgis, Bridger Carson, Harrison Grant, Conner Ro-bley, Carter Pentelute, Jack-son Hill, Kyle Gassman and Ethan MacGillvray, allowed only seven runs to score in the first four games! With the adrenalin pump-ing, the defensive play of Pleasant Grove in each game was spectacular. With Skyler Herrera at third base, Carter Championship was theirs. The players rushed the field for a celebratory pile-u- p near the pitcher's mound. Parents, grandparents and fans gath-ered at home plate to con-gratulate each of these young ball players who represented the pride of Pleasant Grove baseball. For these boys and their misty eyed parents it had been seven games over three long days which ended in ex-hausted euphoria. The All Star team had done what it set out to do - bring Pleas-ant Grove the 2011 Wasatch Baseball Association State Championship.
