Pictured above are some of the third grade students and advisors who participated in the making of calendars for Christmas presents. The calendars featured photos of the students taken by school media coordinator Joan Gaugh. The pictures were printed by Bernie Radcliffe's eighth grade Middle School class. Special calendars a tradition for 3rd Graders at HMK Making calendars for Christmas presents has become a tradition for third grade students at Helen M. Knight School. This year three classes, Linda Groff's, Liz Stock's and Joy Ferguson's, undertook un-dertook the project which was first done three years ago when there were just two third grade classes. The bright light of the student made calendars is an 8 x 10 black and white picture of the child. The pictures are taken by the school media coordinator, Joan Gaugh. They are then developed and printed print-ed by science teacher Bernie Radcliffe and his eighth grade students at the Middle School. Developing Devel-oping and printing 45 pictures is a big job requiring many hours of work. The eighth grade students responsible this year are: Tammy Daniels, Rose Mary Evans, Charlie Mondale, James Cline, Corina Donoghue, Leslie Crossland and Ronnie Dalla. When they get the photographs back, the kids attach them to calendars they have made. In making the calendars, the third graders grad-ers review the sequence of the months, learn why months start on different days of the week, and when certain holidays fall. They also decorate the calendars. By putting the photographs photo-graphs on the calendars Mrs. Groff said, "We feel they are a gift parents will treasure long after the calendar has served its purpose." |
