Tuesday. .Letters have been senj.al- - ready informing, studio' officials offic-ials of- the. arrival . of the . Moab committeemen, and . a . good. many, additional ap-, ap-, pointments ,wll be made after af-ter the men arrive .in. Holly-' Holly-' wood. "We are. planning to , .' . . " "wind up'oiir visit, in. a week, but .will, stay a. .second, week if. we don't' make all the connections con-nections the' first week," Lincoln said. . , ' " The. men this year will be armed with, the- new -Moab Movie- Booklet,- which lists all - facilities available in the community;; outlines the variety var-iety of location possibilities, - and contains letters of welcome wel-come from Utah Governor Calvin L. Rampton and Moab Mayor Winford Bunce; along ' with much other information which could be of importance to a film company considering consider-ing this as. a location for production of a western movie. Mr. Lincoln said that the . pictures now under consid- eration include: . "The Sage," an A. C. Liles-. Liles-. Paramount Production; "Ba-quero," "Ba-quero," a production which has been planned for several . years, but finally scheduled . for production this year by Aubrey Schenick after pur-. pur-. chase of the film rights from Paramount; three westerns being produced this summer by Warner Brothers; and three westerns now under consideration by CBS Stu-C dies, which is the old Republic Re-public Pictures operation. Mr. Lincoln stated that the location director for CBS is Gilbert Kurland, who for many years held the same position for Republic, arid was instrumental in bringing such pictures as Wagonma-s-ter to Moab. "Mr. Kurland's knowledge of the Moab area and his acquaintance here should be helpful on our visit," vis-it," Mr. Lincoln said. The movie committeeman, also stated that three new" companies have been started in Hollywod since the last visit, and appointments will be made to call on officials of those companies as soon as the men arrive in California. Cali-fornia. "We are very optimistic about our chances of getting movie production in Moab this spring, summer and fall." Mr. Lincoln said. The . addition of nearly one hundred hun-dred new motel rooms to the community's total during this wnter will be an additional addi-tional factor selling Moab to Hollywood, he stated. |
