Show Cleanup Drive Plans Continue A thorough spring cleaning for the community is in the planning stages according to Chairman of the Clean-up Campaign, Richard S. Parsons. Par-sons. A number of organizations have been contacted but the specific dates for the campaign cam-paign are still undetermined. The Mayor is making arrangements ar-rangements with several property pro-perty owners of the city who have degenerating buildings on sites that cause a public eyesore. The Mayor is seeking seek-ing their cooperation in making mak-ing it possible to demolish them unless there is a specific spe-cific historical reason why such buildings should be sav-, ed, Mr. Parsons said. Chairman Parsons stated that an "empty house is a dangerous house in any city."' He referred to at least two local cases in which minors got into abandoned buildings here to smoke, and set the buildings on fire. In addition to old building demolition the campaign will also carry out a clean-up of vacant lots. Parsons requested request-ed thaf any elderly folks needing help in cleaning up their property should inform the Chamber of Commerce or City of Moab. The City will be providing weed .burners, trucks and drivers but will be depending depend-ing on civic organizations and individuals to assist in loading the trash. |
