Show Police Cited for Training The Moab Police Department was commended this week for training hours accomplished during the past year through the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). Ralph H. Jones, director of POST, sent the letter of commendation and record of training taken from July 1, 1975 to June 30, 1976. to Police Chief Mel Dalton. Local officers completed training as follows: Chief Dalton, 119 hours; James Nyland. 90 hours; Kirk Rigby. 53 hours; Lawrence Rowley, 87 hours; Valdon Tecples. 137 hours. This is a total of 486 hours of training in classes on all aspects of law enforcement offered annually by POST, which is a division of the Utah Department of Public Safety. In the entire state there were 2092 peace officers who completed 213.315 hours of in-service training during the year, an average of 104 hours per officer. |
