Show Broncos Throw Devils; Vikings Here Friday Undefeated San Juan added Moab to its list of victims Friday, with a 70-46 70-46 manhandling of the Devils that gave the Broncos Bron-cos of Blanding a 1G-0 record re-cord for the year and the undisputed led in Region Six South. The game was decided in the first few minutes by tho Bronco press and fast bieak. Moab managed manag-ed only one field goal in the first quarter and canio out of the session on the short end of a 17-5 score. The second quarter, despite des-pite yeoman work by Mo-ab's Mo-ab's Mike Daniels, was much of the same. Blanding Bland-ing had a 40-14 bulge at the half. Moab regained some of its cool in the second half and actually outscored San Juan 32-SO, but the damage dam-age was done. Daniels continued both his hot scoring pace (20.5 points per game) and his ifoul shot accuracy. Tho 6-4 senior finally missed a foul shot, but still hit 9 out of 10 from charity lane. His 25 points were tops on the floor. Von Isa-man Isa-man added 11 for Moab. The Broncos evenly di. vided their point making. Boyd Laws and Art Buv-tens'haw Buv-tens'haw each tallied 17, and Val Jones added 16 in the balanced attack. Moab is at home this Friday night, when they meet the Vikings of East Carbon. Moab played its best region game at Sun-nyside Sun-nyside in an earlier encounter en-counter to win a squeeker. However, the Vikings pulled pull-ed off the shocker of the year last Friday, when they upset Monticello in a double overtime encounter encoun-ter on the Buckaroo floor. They won it without the full services of center Randy Gunderson which should make Moab ponder a bit about Friday. Game time is 8 p.m., with a junior jun-ior varsity encounter at 6:15. The JV's lost to Blanding 70-48 Friday. |
