Show Wet roads can be a big hazard The Utah Department of Transportation reminds motorists that when it rains again, highways will be terribly slippery. Ac- cording to UDOT spokesman spokes-man this hazardous condition condi-tion is caused by a long term build-up of dust and oily exhaust emissions on the pavement. The first rain adds just enough moistures to turn this build-up into greasy mud. Numerous multi-car freeway accidents have occurred during rainstorms rain-storms following long dry periods. The build-up usually washes off after a few hours of rain. Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution during the next rain. Wet roads are slick enough, but this slippery build-up hus caused problems for even the most experienc-ed experienc-ed drivers. |
