Dixie Barker of - KURA in-; dicated that tourists should not be encouraged to come to the state with their campers and trailers' if there are not going to be adequate facilities to take care of them. Winn of Canyon-ilands Canyon-ilands By Nite, proposed! that a local effort be made to provide a non-commercial magazine extolling the virtues of this area as a tourist area. Winn stated that this might be a way to channel advertising funds during the next reason rea-son and indicated that emphasis em-phasis should be placed on accommodations and the many things to see in the area. Canyonlands is the subject sub-ject of more publicity this month with a copy of the Minneapolis Tribune magazine maga-zine featuring an Arches National Monument employee em-ployee and "Off Road" magazine giving the area good coverage following the author's trip here last year for the Jeep Safari. Dr. Fred Beyeler announced announ-ced that the winter meeting meet-ing of the State Elks Association As-sociation will be held in Moab on Jan. 16 and 17 with between 200 ond 250 persons likely to attend. The State Elks Ritual Contest Con-test will be held at that time and Elks from most of the Stalte's 17 lodges are expected to attend.
