Show FEA is Pushing Utah's Kaiparowits Project , Federal Energy Administrator Admini-strator Frank Zarb has informed inform-ed U.S. Sen. Jake Garn (R-Ut) that the FEA is moving to expedite the Kaiparowits Power Pow-er Project in Southern Utah. In response to a letter Sen. Garn wrote to Zarb, the Administrator told the Senator, Sena-tor, "I share the concern that both you and Governor Ramp- ton have that the final decision on the project be reached as expeditiously as possible." The Administrator said he has written to Acting Secretary of the Interior Kent Frizzell, requesting that the Department Depart-ment of Interior's decision on the project be made as soon as possible. He said he asked him to expedite the environmental impact statement review process pro-cess and reach a final decision prior to the Utah State Engineer's consideration of the project's water allocation renewal application in September. Sep-tember. Sen. Garn said he welcomes Zarb's cooperation. "The Kaiparowits Project has been under study and negotiation for over ten years. It's time the delays are over and we get on with the project.
