Show Raid Here Monday Resulted in Arrests Police Chief Mel Dalton reported Tuesday that during the early morning hours of Oct. 6, Region 8 Drug Task Force personnel, assisted by Moab City Police, the Grand County Sheriffs Department and the Utah Highway Patrol entered two local homes with search warrants. The home of Don Covey was entered shortly after midnight, and the Robert Hotz residence was entered at about 2:30 a.m., and both men were booked and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Several juvenile arrests were made during the week, with the young people turned over to Juvenile Court for action. A juvenile was arrested Oct. 1 by city police officers, and charged with possession of a controlled substance. On Oct. 3 a box of tools was taken from Grand County High School, and on Oct. 6 city police arrested 3 juveniles, charging 2 with theft of the tools. The third was charged with having stolen property in his possession. This case is still under investigation. An accident occurred Oct. 1 at 35 South 1st West at 12:15 a.m. when Clinton Spinks, driving a 1974 Volkswagen was pulling out of the parking lot at the Hitching Post. He ran into a parked 1968 Buick belonging to J. Kelly Cooper, doing about $1500 damage to the Volkswagen and $400 to the Buick. Spinks was cited for leaving the scene of an accident; for driving left of center; and for expired drivers license. Also on Oct. 1 at the Grand County High School parking lot at about 9:15 a.m. Kevin GUliland left his 17 Ford parked behind the Vocational Center, and it rolled into' a parked 1966 Ford belonging to Wesley Leonard, doing about $150 damage to the Leonard vehicle and $20 damage to the Gilliland vehicle. There were no citations issued. In the Red Rock Lodge parking lot Oct. 2 at 8 p.m., Linda Lovato was backing a 1973 Ford and hit a parked 1947 Ford belonging to Mur- ray Kay, doing about $200 damage to the Lovato behicle and no damage to the Kay vehicle. There were no citations, cita-tions, as the accident was on private property. |
