Show Senior Citizen activities . . . The September birthday birth-day night was a huge success, held Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. at the Senior Center. Those celebrating birthdays during the month were Ella Slama, the 8th; Louise Watts, the 12th; Mildred Campbell, the 17th; Eliza Coors, the 18th; Madge Warde, the 23rd; Elma Lee Elderking, the 23rd; Eddah Shields, the 27th; and Mary Pogue, the 28th. All were present except Mary and Eddah. The group called them and sang "Happy Birthday Birth-day over the phone, after which each person with a birthday said a few words. During the program Jack Stewart sang 2 solos accompanied on the piano by Gen Holyoak, and 2 duets were sung by Dee Gardner and Jack Stewart. Ste-wart. Mildred Campbell and Madge Warde read poems. Cake and ice cream, coffee and punch were served. Birthday cakes were made by Goldie Cunningham, Lena Shields and Sylvia Wood-ard. Wood-ard. The Moabite's Club furnished the other refreshments. re-freshments. Eleven senior citizens enjoyed a 2-day trip to Durango, Colo, beginning Sept. 20. They took the train to Silverton Sept. 21, and spent 2 hours sightseeing sight-seeing and shopping. They ate dinner at the Bent Elbow in Silverton, and returned to Durango by bus, coming home from there. The group included 1 ' Howard Bennett, bus driver, and his wife, 1 " Bessie, Howard and Lena Shields, Mildred Camp- "" bell, Genevieve Holyoak, Madge Warde, Gen Hayes, Irene Head, George and Loretta Schaefer. The group reported re-ported they enjoyed the trip and the beautiful fall foliage in the mountains, 1 going and coming.
