Show Prison Term Issued By District Court District Judge Edward Sheya held court in Moab Dec. 14, and heard the following cases: In the State of Utah vs. Clyde Tate, Tate was charged with issuing a fraudulent commercial paper pa-per with the intention to defraud. He was found guilty and sentenced to not less than one nor more than ten years in the Utah State Prison. Sheriff, W. II. Bowman was directed to transfer him to the warden war-den or other proper officer offi-cer forthwith. In the case of the State of Utah vs. Delford liotz, Hotz had formerly pled not guilty and changed his plea to guilty of the charge of selling narcotic drugs. The court sentenced sentenc-ed him to serve five years' to life imprisonment in Utah State Prison. How ever, it was brought to the attention of the court that Mr. Hotz had assisted assist-ed officers and cooperated cooperat-ed in the apprehension of other narcotics offenders, and that he had ceased to use narcotic drugs and not sold any since his arrest. Additionally, he is holding a responsible position with a local industrial .firm and is apparently doing well. For these reasons, the court suspended the execution exe-cution of the .judgement for two years,' upon tho following conditions: 1. That he serve- six months in Grand County Jail every evening after work and on weekends. . 2. That he sign a probation proba-tion agreement with the Stale Parole Board and comply with' all of its terms. 3. That he refrain from violation of any federal, state or local laws. 4. That he not associate with known drug offenders. offen-ders. 5. That he not become intoxicated. 6. That he not leave the state without permission. Jerry Calfigaro, appearing appear-ing before the court on a charge of carnal knowledge, knowl-edge, changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. The court set a date of sentencing for Jan. 11, 1971 at 10 a.m. The same date and time were set for the sentencing of E. D. Knapp, who was convicted convict-ed last week by a jury of the offense of grand la-ceny. la-ceny. Daniel Bittle was ordered or-dered to pay his family $75 per month for chiloi support commencing Jan. 1, 1971. : Also before the court, the folltowing divtorces 1 were heard and granted: Janine J. Wright and Daniel Dan-iel Marciel Wright; Kar-nel Kar-nel Lindsay and James D. Lindsey; Anne Marie Bee-son Bee-son and Mark D. Beeson. Two adoption matters were heard and granted, and numerous probate pe. titions were likewise heard and granted. |
