Show Seal Coat Job at Airport Will Be Undertaken If work proceeds on schedule, Canyonlands Airport Air-port should be receiving a seal coat sometime during dur-ing the next two weeks, according, to County Engineer, En-gineer, John Keogh. Keogh met with the Grand County Commission on Monday and informed them that he had talked with Rodney Dohl of the Utah State Aeronautics Commission and the suggestion sug-gestion had been made that the County seal the complete airport strip plus the ramp and taxiway. Keogh then contacted Blackline Asphalt for a bid for the project which was set at $22,000 if the County uses a mixture, of oil and sand. The cost breakdown on this would toe about $8,200 ; for oil, $4,500 for sand and $9,300 for labor and equipment. Blackline suggested however, how-ever, that chips instead of sand be used to provide a more durable top coat. After Af-ter consulting with the State, Keogh reported that chips would be used but that they would cost an estimated $8,400 which would bring the project cost to nearly $26,000. Of this amount, the State will pay half and the rest will come from local tax monies. In other business, thee Commission signed a contract con-tract with the State Division Div-ision of Health to have $3,343 reimbursed for their share of costs for the fiscal year July 1, 1970 through June 30, 1971. The group also agreed ag-reed to accept the right of. way from George E. and Mary E. White and Louis and Joan Kisida for a road to the George White residence. A description of this right-of-way is on file in the Recorder's office. of-fice. Dick Bedier of Elgin asked to have some road work done in that area, and was told that J. V. Westwood would move his crews into the area as soon as possible. Bedier also asked if Grand County Coun-ty supported television. He was informed that the County did not wish to become be-come involved in bringing television into the area by air wavs. |
