Show llanksville News Notes By Barbara Ekker The body of a Colorado student missing in the Colo. River since June 20th was found Friday in Lake Powell. The body was downstream 35 miles from where he was reported to have disappeared. Ranger Tom Wylie said the student was Thomas Barber, 24, of Ft. Collins, Colorado who was drown while swimming swim-ming with a friend, Kirk Anderson of Smithfield, Utah. The two had been backpacking and went swimming just above Cataract Canyon, which is known to river runners as having some of the roughest rapids in the country. Anderson Ander-son stated that Barber and he were swimming around a log which got carried into the main current and headed for the Cataract rapids. Anderson said he made it to shore and he saw Barber still clinging to the log going thru the rapids. Rep. Allen. T. Howe (D-Uah) and two aides were among the group of 27 who toured Wayne County Tuesday. Tues-day. The tour began at the courthouse in Loa and traveled east throughbapitol Reef and onto the proposed site of the Interrnountain Power Project northwest of Hanksville. Howe stated he was fortunate fortu-nate in having three national parks in his jurisdiction. But interest was more in the proposed site for the power plant. This phase of the tour included the Middle Desert and Cainsville Wash area where the proposed plant will be built. Included jn the touring group were Wayne County Commissioners Darrell Al-brecht, Al-brecht, Dwight Williams, Kenneth Ken-neth Rees, Barlow Pace, ASCS; Rod Howard and Ted Knowles, Forest Service; Ben Lindsey, USDA; James Bowns and Fee Bushby and Marven Ogden, USU; Edward Fisk, BLM; Steve Smooth and Phyllis Embley, congressional aides; Verl Bagley, Extension Service; and Thaine Taylor, NACD. While touring in the Washington-Oregon area the Jerry Crawford family was side-swiped side-swiped in the mobile camper and overturned. The family crawled out the driver's window and were not seriously injured except for Peggy, who was rushed to the hospital where x-rays showed she'd chipped her spine.
