Show ' - I SP4 Carithers Viet Veteran Enjoys Holidays With Parents SP4 Douglas Carithers arrived ar-rived in Moab Tuesday evening even-ing after completing a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Viet Nam. He will spend the holidays with his parents, Assistant Superintendent and Mrs. Joseph Carithers, of the Canyonlands National Park comnlex. The Viet Nam veteran spent the past year at Vung Tau where he flew missions and served as heavy lift helicopter heli-copter mechanic on Sky Cranes with the 273rd Assault As-sault Support. He described the experience as "not too bad", but he is loking forward for-ward to a more relaxing first tour of the Needles and a rida over "Elephant Hill." The Carithers daughter. Lynda, and husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Cooper, of Mesa Verde, will join the family group in Moab during the holiday season. Also planned plan-ned is a trip to Sante Fe, New Mexico, where Douglas will visit former , school friends. Following a two-week two-week furlough he will report to Fort Sill, thence to Germany Ger-many where he is scheduled to complete his remaining 14 months service tour. |
