Show Local Churches Mark Beginning Of Lent With Special Services The opening of the Lenten Season was observed in Moab Mo-ab on February 8 with spe-vices spe-vices at the Episcopal and Catholic Churches. At the Episcopal Church of St. Francis, Morning Prayer, Litany, and Penitential Peni-tential Office was followed by Hoi Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes in morning and evening services. ser-vices. Beginning Friday evening Lent will be observed at 7:30 p.m. each Friday until un-til Good Friday with a series ser-ies of Meditations on "Pilgrim's "Pil-grim's Progress in the World Today," in- addition to regular services conducted conduct-ed by Father Joseph Hog-ben, Hog-ben, Vicar of the Church. As a last social event before the discipline of Lent began, Parish members mem-bers of St. Francis enjoyed a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at the Parish Haii Tuesday. The family event was arranged by Mrs Cor- rine Hollis, president of St. Claire's Guild; a question and answer period folowed the supper. Observe Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday was observed ob-served at St. Pius X Catholic Cath-olic Church with the Blessing Bles-sing of the Ashes and Morning Morn-ing Mass. Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday morning, morn-ing, and at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Stations of the Cross will bp observed at 7:30 p.m. each Friday until un-til Good Friday. On Sunday, February 19, at 4 p.m., Bishop Joseph Federal, of Salt Lake City, Ci-ty, will conduct Confirmation Confirma-tion Services for a class of 25.
