started drifting to Grand Valley which Isnow Isnow is isnow now Moab They came without without with with- out architects and engineers However they used natural resources to erect their homes And nd buildings which was a credible work of art We as descendants of the pioneers are still proud of those buildings and would like to see see- seethe the one which is the Daughters of Utah Plo Flo teenagers As the news reporters ha have e eso so aptly put it one brother resisted arrest and was apprehended apprehended ap ape in front of the dance His twin brother so Im I'm told was Issued a citation for interfering and the other othe r boy for resisting arrest Although Although Al Al- Although though neither boys or parents parents parents par par- have been told what th the e citations consist of of nor nor have they received them From the time these boys have been able to drive they have been taught by their fa father father father fa- fa ther that driving is a privilege privilege lege and s should be treated as such They have been well schooled on how to handle and care for th their lr automobiles automo biles titles But like so many other teenagers and adults they have abused this privilege This boy determIned determined ined fined not to be picked up again when the chase started was going 5 to 10 miles mUes over ove the speed limit There ha has been mu much said concerning what happened some tru true and some not And man many things have been left unsaid What this boy did was a grea great wrong He not only endangered endangered gored his own life but pos pos- those o of others The Thi boy was very angry an and frightened This doesn't excuse excuse ex ex- cuse cuss him no one told him to do this thing He knows know right from wrong and hi he should be I'm sad to say I cant can't take pride In all that took place that night I feel eel no pride i in unruly teenagers incompetent tent parents adults that sell eel alcoholic beverages to our kids Nor can I take pride prid e in the manner In wirier which w th the e police handled the Incident I feel eel a deep shame tor for all o of 01 ofus us concerned This rebellion has been building up for tor a long time in our teenagers To say that these two boys are the main cause of it Is very unjust There has been no mention o of 01 anything that followed this thi s or the many things that have haye se e taken place since I tor one am in complete sympathy with our teenagers I Not Pot in their wrongdoing wrong but butIn butIn butin In their desire to have something some som e. e thing of ot their own had to face tace I t regret that I haven't been bee wiser in many ways way in the past 17 years year And Im I'm sorry that they haven't used better better bet bet- ter judgment at times None the less 01 passing the use of the old church building now known as the DUP building on the school grounds We have been offered this building on a yearly lease basis I if it we will maintain the upkeep on the building We once leased this buDdIng building bundIng bund build Ing for lor 99 years but gave up its use use because the schools school s needed it it Then the records record s were lost and we have no not sh st t been allowed back although h our relics are still there We spent over 1000 fixing fixing fix ing up the building and kept it from decay We feel we need a longer time lease if U we are to pu put putout putout out means in it again We wish it preserved at al all t cost It was built by free donations dona dons tons in the first place Ou Our fathers lathers doing their share o of f
