A Painter to whom much credit Is due for a good Job We fall failed d to Include the LookIng Looking Looking Look Look- Ing Back column In last weeks week's paper due to toga toa a critical shortage of space and have heard about it all week That seems to be one of the more popular features In the paper to newcomers as aswell aswell aswell well as those who can remember happenings told of from week to toI week twenty thirty and forty and forty I years ago We will make a its ite effort to see that It is included from now on on this page in its accustomed spot Two weeks without rain and already people are beginning to talk about prolonged dry spells It Is actually the longest spell we have had this summer but the swamps still haven't started to dry up All the desert water water- holes are full this year some of which haven't been damp for years and sod the mosquitoes are aTe so thick on the desert you'd think they didn't care if they never saw another river The dry dry- weather has hurried the season a little it appears and from the cold nights and the smoke-filled smoke valley it looks as asIf asif asif if fall tall is beginning One bad feature about this season season season sea sea- son for many of us us Is that pollen pollen pollen pol pol- pol- pol len from any number of weeds is now the thickest bringing with it sneezing spells and watering eyes sure symptoms of hay er We recently read where an organization in Canada had recently re- re re recently developed a combatant to hay fever after working for some sometime sometime sometime time with pollen from weed rag a very popular Moab garden var var- They claim to have the answer answer answer ans ans- to hay fever Moab has always had its share of sufferers few of which get much relief from the fact that very few people succumb from the pesky aliment ailment Our attention was directed ted this week to an Interesting Item which recently appeared in the 75 Years Ago column of the Deseret News Sept 11 II II 1882 Norman Taylor of Moab Emery County County County Coun Coun- ty was In the city The settlement settlement settlement settle settle- ment boasted 26 families and had been organized only one year A schoolhouse had been built last summer and school conducted all winter whiter This Item was especially Interesting interesting in In- In to us here bere as early settler Norman Taylor was the great grandfather of this writer among the original band of pioneers that settled Salt Lake valley with Brigham Young and one ono of the first permanent settlers of the Moab area The fact that a school had been built and put into operation operation opera opera- tion the first year of the towns town's settlement Is tribute to those who pioneered his area It Is our guess that representative descendants of all of the 1882 Moab families can still be found in town Moab residents are facing some elections this fall and it isn't too early to begin thinking about aboul them In the city a mayor and two councilmen are to be chosen while the school district will have an In a Moab precinct The terms of Mayor J. J W. W Corbin Councilmen Ellis Cook and L. L L.
