Show EDITORIALS t K KA A Road to Somewhere Chamber of Commerce officials arc are areto to be commended for their efforts to attempt attempt attempt at at- tempt to have constructed a highway between between be between be- be tween Vernal in the Uintah basin and the southeastern Utah area south of the Book Cliff range of mountains Such a road would connect two of the most potentially potentially potentially poten poten- important areas in the state of Utah and would provide a scenic route through almost unknown country Southeastern Utah has maintained an isolated situation down through the years It has had only one entrance from Utah being separated from southwestern Utah by the rugged canyon country of the Colorado Colorado Colorado Colo Colo- rado and Green rivers and from northeastern northeastern northeastern north north- eastern Utah by the Book Cliffs CUffs With extended extended extended ex ex- tended activity and road building in San SanJuan SanJuan SanJuan Juan county it seems apparent that before before before be be- fore too much longer we will have easy access to southwestern stem Utah via Glen Canyon dam We Ws need the road leading directly to the Uintah basin to complete the job Slowly but surely travel to and from the the Moab area from other points in Utah is becoming easier We look forward to the day when well-maintained well highways lead from The Tho Uranium Capitol like spokes from a wheel |
