C Unit Conservationist of the Soil Soli Conservation Service and Q David Dav Day id Hansen Hanson District Forest Ran Ran- ger The average snow depth de and water content were found tx to be tie inches and 74 Inches re This reflects anIn crease luring during the month of I March of about one inch of snow I and 19 inches of water The storms during the month were very wet and tended to pack I the snow and In Increase rease the water content Ont n t. t The fIhe year ten average e as of April 1 1944 to 1953 is Inches of snow and 1146 inches of Water water wa ter The water content this year is about 65 of the ten year average overage I The 1953 measurements Indicated Indi 30 Inches Inches' of snow with Inches of water The soil soH moisture conditions were very poor due to the dry fall lall of 1952 In comparison the good rood fall tall storms of 1953 are reflected In good soil soH moisture under tinder the snow at present In view of this condition it Is felt that water prospects are about comparable to 1953 although there is about 2 inches less water in the snow |
