Show lILIE L 1 n I I I I I j II v i 1 l V I 1 RS ns DOROTHY SMITH 1639 Street Rahway New Jeri Jer- Jer se sey one night recently had a caller a neighbor who had suffered deep personal tragedy just a year year ago Mrs Smith thinks all otus ofus can benefit by the attitude of her friend hence friend hence this story Her lIer husband had been instantly killed in an auto accident leaving her with five small children But she looked so well that Mrs Smith couldn't help remarking on her calm and contented appearance So the neighbor told this story I After I lost John so suddenly and was faced with the almost impossible task of raising five children alone I was thrown into despair darker I than 1 thought existed My days and nights were tormented with worry and fear of the future life held nothing for me I completely forgot my children and the loss that they too had suffered I think I would in time have lost my mind mild Then one night my oldest son asked me to hear him while he v recited some f prayers t that t were C CARNEGIE EGIE to be said at a pageant One of the prayers was the twenty-third twenty Psalm As As John began reciting The Lord is my shepherd I 1 shall shag not wan want t I 1 felt a remarkable lightness almost as though someone had lifted lilted a weight from rom me I know now that God surely Intervened that night knowing how desperately was I bought a copy of the Psalm and had It framed for my room There it hung and morning and night comforting words to be able to read and to give me a sense of strength and courage Im I'm not a deeply religious person and doubt 1 if If I 1 would have believed a year ago that such a small thing could perform the miracle It t did but I 1 know now that the help I 1 received from the words of that Psalm brought me back to sanity and Is helping me to be both mother and father to my children Yes we can all benefit by a story of overcoming fear and worry I through confidence and faith In God e a |
