Show r rI I Girl Scouts Hold Day Camp CampIn In Moab During Past Week r The rho result of planning since January a Girl Scout day II scamp camp was recently deem deemed d da a success in Moab by J Jean an ani i Johnson camp director Fourteen Fourteen Fourteen Four Four- teen girls between the ages of 7 and 14 attended the five live day to 2 pm p.m. Scout camp held at the Old Ranch House Jouse It was the first such f camp to be held in Moab for Girl Scouts Divided first into four units according to age and second into patrols the patrol system was used for camp govern govern- ent The girls themselves chose the activities In which their particular group would participate Available to the girls was instruction In arts and crafts archery out door cooking and camp tamp housekeep housekeep- ing Eng Each of ot the units design design- designed ed and flew llew a flag bearing a symbol taken from its name which was also chosen by the i girls Almost 30 Moab women most of them Scout leaders participated in the camp In addition individuals from the community lent their services to teach the girls Vee Carroll women's state archery champion was on hand for a day and a hall half to teach archery to the older girls Mrs Ross Musselman spent a n morning with Brownies Brown Drown Brownies ies Jes and younger Girl Scouts talking about and hunting rocks in fn hills hilts surrounding the campsite Margaret Peterson Gaskill displayed her shell collection to Brownies Mr Anthony Purle Purley Grand coun county ty school district r Instructed Instructed In Instructed In- In Scouts and Brownies Brown Drown Brownies ies les In hi Indian dancing Last day of 01 the camp a writing contest was held for tor all aU the girls in which they answered such questions as What was the funniest How Ilow thing you saw happen could the camp b be s Improved next year etc First place was taken by Barbara Darbara Bartlett Bart Bart- Barthlett lett second by Marie Stew Stews ard Jean Johnson pleased with the results of at planning and training said We feel like Uke its it's been a real success because because be be- cause causa the girls are happy and the leaders have been Wonder wonder- ful In addition to girls girts and leaders she cited many others for tor their assistance in making the camp a success |
