unless its iU people were willing to accept the responsibilities brought about when growth and prosperity pros prosperity are anticipated And until this thia time those responsibilities re rO- ro- ro have been assumed in a commendable man man- tier nor Before the voters voters' next Tuesday Y Is a proposal which would authorize the Grand District Board of Education to sell seU bonds ix f in the amount of thousand for the purpose of building a o new high school and for tor improving md and enlarging presently overcrowded elementary condi condi- Grand county's voters have never before been I faced ed with a more f justifiable just expenditure of funds And ever sever before has a bond proposal received so much detailed de de- de- de tailed nod study and analysis by responsible cit cit- Grand county high school designed and built in 1934 to handle handlo a maximum of students is now handling nearly early twice that many Forced double sessions in the the elementary system insures even l 1 larger groups of students in the tho high school in n the next Yew years An insured stable economy economy for or at least five five- more years in Moab's first major industry uranium coupled with decision recommended by a committee made up of the community's leading citizens i is in some cases contro contro- However to this point we have not been impressed impressed impressed im im- im- im Those conditions have been difficult Grand county's school district is charged with the responsibility of educating educating ed ed- all aU children who reside within the county In Inmany Inmany Inmany many instances this responsibility has been made to include children whose parents are taxed in a neighboring county And the responsibility has b been n cheerfully n ac accepted accepted ac- ac by the school district and its sponsors the taxpaying taxpaying taxpaying tax- tax paying property properly owners of Grand county A failure on the part of the voters to authorize the school hool board to co continue tin its progressive ve program program of improvement improvement im im- provement ment would be b be a two fold failure First it would be bea a failure to recognize ze and assume responsibilities every very community in the nation faces that of providing the i best est possible education for its youth Secondly it would b be a failure to give the school board and lay committee on building credit for the long hours of honest deliberation deliberation deliberation delibera delibera- tion that preceded the decision to build As for the future of Moab after 1966 it seems we
