| Show r A Letter to Midge Dear beat Midge Aft After r hundreds of a anxious n it Iou I i of ot the clouds in the sky we finally completed cd td High School Homecoming parade without more than a few tew gusts of wind As parades go over the land this thU cne one was very small and Insignificant but oh how personal aI and how much work went Into each float noat Where else but In a small town would you hear bear comments such as ns these My son is the drum major of the band My dau daughter Is the Queen See my son non on that float My Iy daughter Is carrying the tin flog flag g. g The flat bed for that float came from our ranch Some parades are beautiful miles mUes long and gorgeous P Professional Pro Pm float makers design and execute them Spectacular fascinating to watch beautiful but coldly Impersonal The floats In our our parade are because the parade was WM led Jed by built bunt by the youngsters They have bave very little tittle If any adult help They scout around for the foundations the mode of haulIng haul haul- Ing design the float and then build and decorate It The seventh grade won second prize in this parade This Is their first year to participate in the contest cotest They designed and built their float without any adult assistance except the loan Joan of the tools and the driver power If It they keep this up by the time they are seniors they really should have a class that turns out a float par excellence My Myha ha hat is off to any group of or kids that can get together work play and come to the parade with the type of or floats that were displayed I know I am writing too loo much about the floD floats ts a small but peppy band Two high stepping majorettes w were re well wen Worth watching The pep club girls didn't have too many marching marchin because many of the uniforms didn't come The cheer cheerleaders cheerleaders cheerleaders leaders made up In noise what they lacked ed In uniforms be because be cause they rode on tote goats People growl and aM grumble about delinquent teenagers This world will be In good hands it If these teenagers take over the reigns of or government Ability to work together planning and organizing Is Invaluable In this thU country where we have to make mak our own decisions good decisions good or bad this this creative and critical thinking that these teenagers have is a trait that will wm prove useful to them and to their community In future years So again Midge I say hats off orr to small town homecoming parades and to the teenagers that participate In them Love PEPITA |
