F BENNETT Moab Monday Dear Editor I have been thinking about doIng doIng doing do do- ing an article for the past six weeks but keep putting It ft off oft Then last Friday evening something something something some some- thing happened that really spurred spurred spurred spur spur- red me on Knowing that you are one of busy business men showing pictures pictures pic plc- tures for touring friends six nights a week for the Chamber of Commerce I am aware that you ou hesitate to tell the story but this does not bother me as I Iam am amnot not a business man just a housewife glad to be included in showing films of ot Grand County to all these folks from all over America For the benefit of ot a lot of ot people people peo pea pie who do not know or maybe do not realize the service all aU of ot you men glue give e to this project after a busy day serving the public I Iam Iam Iam am sending this Last Friday evening it was my turn to show pictures and after T I set up the Little Theater as one man called it recently I was amazed to find one man and his wife from Detroit in my my audi audi- ence I am glad I was showing and not one of you men I can assure you that I did not spare any of my speech or pictures I gave the works To my surprise they decided to stay several days going over the mountain down through Castle Valley and to Dead Horse Point Paint They had In Intended Intended intended In- In tended to stay all 1111 night and go goust just to the Arches Now all of ot us know that is one of the main reasons reasons rea rea- sons ons why we give this time to show films Last year It was es estimated estimated es- es that half of the people stayed from two days to two weeks longer and Just who benefits In spite of the MOVIE activity here this summer our average has been about 0 and all aU local folks are invited to come and enjoy an evening of great fellowship and make new friends for Moab Many Ian folks comment that this Is something unheard of in some of ot the greatest tourist area of the country Others who have have- been en eft route to the north sta staying staying stay stay- I ing over night came back with their thelt families rind and relatives because because because be- be cause they attended the showing show show- ing One man told me recently that the sight he saw from Pinhook Point on the mountain far lar surpassed Grand Canyon Many others feel the same wa way when they see Dead Horse Point and Grand View Point I 1 have some fine new pictures of this area that really sold these Detroit De De- Detroit troit folks who were amazed that nobody was there Besides you and me and Ross who give this service service ser ser- vice there are ore two new comers J J.
