Knight school auditorium Exhibits were In three categories cate cate- gories gorles the first Including elementary elementary ele students through fourth grade The second category was composed of fifth and sixth graders and the third category Included the three j Junior high school grades First plato place In each category received re- re received re a certificate of award and a check for tor five tive dollars A I check for ten dollars was given I I to the winner of the grand prize for tor the best exhibit In tUe t fair I Winner of the grand prize was Gary with an exhibit showing schematically and explaining ex ex- I the fission n and fusion reactions which are arc the basis of what is commonly known as the atom bomb and the hydrogen bomb The winners of first place In I I I I I the Junior high division were Pat Head and Phil who Jointly entered a model of ofa a driven battery-driven motor using mercury and electromagnets electromagnet Second place was won by MI Ml- Pendleton and third By Gy Beverly Law and Tanya Mur Mur- phy In the fifth and sixth grade group first place was won by Joel Blake and Don ion Seigfried for their model of at a uranium mine Second place piece was awarded award award- ed to Randy Spencer and third to Allen AUen Mayhew First place In the fourth- fourth grade level le division was won by Billy Dilly Baker Daker for his exhibit of an anoil anoil oil rig Second place went to I Betty Barnes Darnes and Terry Drake and third place was won by David David Da Da- vid Jamison and Dale PIerson for their Joint exhibit Exhibits were Judged by Mrs Lucille Wyant of the I f fI Auxiliary of the AIME AIMS Philip LIndstrom superintendent of Hecla Mining company and by William Franklin superintendent dent of the Jen mine The judgIng Judging Judg ing was based on creative abilIty ability abil ity scientific thought thoroughness thorough thorough- ness clarity and technical skill Visitors to the Science Fair were impressed by the high quality of the exhibits and the great amount of work that went into them |
