F Benett Utah R-Utah The budget breakdown f for r Arches was as follows Wall Walks s sand and driveways curb am and gutter roadways and drainage 14 miles equipment and storage shop including a n link chain-link fence a new employee residence utility connections anc and 55 miles of boundary fence At the Devils Devil's Garden section of Arches the following budget requests were ere outlined Water supply and distribution a well welland and a gallon allon storage tank development o of 60 GO campground sites sewage disposal anc and comfort stations The work will be done under the Park Service Mission 66 program a program of development development develop develop- ment started six years ago which has been responsible for new roads buildings and other Improvements that have been made In the monument in the past few years The Devils Devil's Garden section presently the least developed of the Arches areas will receive a considerable amount of attention this year if budget requests are arc honored Work has also been slated for Natural Bridges national monument monument monument ment which will pave the way for a n permanent supervisor According According Ac Ac- cording to words word received Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday Tues Tues- day nearly one half million has been scheduled for this long- long neglected scenic spot spot at at present present present pres pres- ent under Jurisdiction of Arches administration Construction of a n new approach ap ap- ro ch tad and visitor center parking ea will take the lions lion's share of Bridges budget money I That t estimated cost will be thousand nd Utilities u ng water sewer and power will require 34 thousand two employee em ern residences will take 40 thousand and a utility building will cost thousand At present there Is not all- all year supervision at the monument monument monument ment rangers moving Into the area for the long summer sea sea- son The new app approach ach road rood will replace a n long gravelled road that has been used here here- Also of Interest to this area is the development plan for tor the White lute Canyon recreation site on future Lake Powell That site long along with another in San Juan Juao C County 0 un t y Bullfrog Basin will each receive budgets of thousand for construction construction construction tion of launching boat-launching ramps and other Improvements The White Rite Canyon urea area most accessible to Utah boaters on I Ithe the new nm lake will be the second- second largest of nine recreation tion areas developed In the next few years In time it will include motel rooms eating places and other concessions |
