Allen Alien I Ump Hospital in 1 Dr Allen I who had been allin ailing for nearly u a j i i w WI is 73 at the time of hU his hUdi iJ di ath Funeral services were held In Moab Wednesday at the chapel a and n d a near capacity group of friends paid loot 1151 fit honors to Dr Allen Mitchell p principal r 1 n c I P l speaker and a 11 time long close friend of the Moab doctor re reviewed reviewed re re- viewed his lifetime of service to this area and his lifetime of dedication to the medical pro pro- fusion felon Mr told of ot the hardships encountered by the physician during Moab's early days and praised him as a sometimes sometimes some some- times dentist business advisor and confident In reference to his profession Dr Allen was referred referred referred re re- to as imaginative daring dar dar- daring ing yet et careful and competent Isaac Walter Allen was born bornat at nt Richmond Utah January 23 1889 the son of ot Andrew and Minerva Whittle Allen early Utah settlers He lie attended high school at Logan the University of or Utah at Salt Snit Lake City and completed his medical education at Rush Medical College In Chi CD cago O. O He lie graduated In 1918 and had his experiences In a s Chicago hospital He lie enrolled for military duty during the first World War Var and following the war continued with the United States Public Health Service as asa asa asa a first lieutenant until 1920 During six months of this time ha hI was vas assigned as an instructor tor or or at Utah State University at Logan Dr Allen located in Moab during during dur dur- ing 1920 where he took over the active control of a small hospital which then contained only four rooms Due to his efforts the hospital grew to a modern modem In Institution In in- containing 17 wards and private rooms with facilities facilities ties for all cases and cies cles This hospital served the community com com- community until midway through the uranium boom when the present hosp hospital tal was built and andI I named In his honor He was guest of bt honor at dedication services held at the new Dr I. I W. W Allen hospital In early 1957 He lie was married to Dotothy Dorothy 1 Kirk of Moab during his early years in to Moab She died in 1928 In 1930 he married Daisy F F. Taylor In Provo Mrs Allen AIen survives sur sur- vives Ives along with his son David David- Allen of Moab Also surviving- surviving are four step stepchildren step Mrs Sweeney and Mrs Lucille Dolson both of ot Los Angeles Angeles An An- geles Max Taylor Salt Sat Lake City and Mrs Helen Leonard Moab Other sur survivors include a brother S. S W.
