Show 1958 Big Game Season Set by Fish and Game Department Highlights of It the big game seasons as recently set by the Utah Utah Board of ot Big Game Con Can Include the following information I matlon mation The general deer seasons will begin Saturday October 18 with an eleven day or longer longere season e Son for hunting animals of at either sex being the rule for the states state's 62 deer herd units As in the past years longer seasons and other special type typo hunts were set to channel hunting huntIng hunting hunt- hunt ing pressure into many of the deer herd units where a more equitable harvest Is needed to balance the herds with the available forage A statewide special archery deer season was scheduled for August 30 through September 14 In the Moab area this hunt huntis is being looked forward to by many who have become archery fans since fans since the Initiation of the special summer hunts a few years ago Earliest line hunts were set for two special permit two two- deer areas September 20 to September September Sep Sep- 28 on the Antimony and Henry mountains Early regular license seasons were set for two hunting units These are arc the San Juan Elk Ridge Blue mountain and the Black Fork areas with the hunt beginning one week before the general opening or October 11 A total of 2210 elk permits I were wore authorized over 13 hunting units Antelope hunts for four units totaling 90 permits were set Permits for taking ten bull moose were also authorized by bythe bythe bythe the Board Earliest dates when applications applications for special permits will be acceptable are arc as follows Antelope Antelope Antelope Ante Ante- lope July 28 elk and moose I August 7 deer August 25 Application Application Ap Ap- fees Cees were set at 10 15 25 and respectively for Cor resident hunters By law only residents may I hunt elk moose or antelope The nonresident fees for Cor deer hunting hunting hunt hunt- ing remain the same as in 1957 or 40 for a regular license 5 for Cor a special permit other than the archery permit which is set at 3 for both resident and nonresident nonresident nonresident non non- resident alike The Board ruled that prior to application for a special permit the hunter must first possess a regular big game license Two special deer permits may be obtained ob ob- obtained by a qualified hunter provided provided pro pro- vided no more than one may be beon beon beon on any one hunting unit I |
