Show LIONS TAKE ACTION TO HELP unemployment at a meeting of the moab lions club held monday at the utah cafe a discussion was had regarding the unemployment situation locally with a view to perfecting an organization which can aid in relief work next winter while it was pointed out that conditions at the present tune are considerably improved due to there cent highway work U was felt that steps should now be taken looking to some emergency employment next winter it was asserted that the government Is now disbursing funds through the reconstruction finance corporation to alleviate distress throughout the nation these funds being in the form of a dole and being distinct from the loans being made on self liquidating projects president 0 A folster was authorized to appoint a general unemployment committee representing the lions club which ahall cooperate with county agencies in ye bat work this committee was instructed ted to ascertain whether or sot grand county Is eligible tor some of the government funds C A robertson W R mcconkle and L L taylor were appointed as this committee president folster stated that A A andersen executive secretary of alm council boy scouts of america will visit moab soon in the interest of the boy scout movement and that he would speak at a public meeting to be held here inasmuch as the lions club Is sponsoring the boy scout troop at moab the club voted to get behind mr andersons visit and to lend every financial and moral support possible to furthering the work in this section in this connection it was pointed out it Is probable that a permanent boy scout camp would be established in the la sal mountains next summer and that several hundred boy scouts from eastern utah would doubtless spend their summer outing at this camp merle and P H were accepted as new members of the club |
