Show PAIR WITH 70 IN FAKE MONEY CAUGHT AT SEGO BY AFTER PASSING COINS AT MACK two men were arrested and 70 in counterfeit coins and paraphernalia used in making the coins were seized by sheriff J B and deputy richard dails at sego late sunday night as the result of the discovery that the men had passed some bogus money in a slot machine at mack colo the day before sunday night sheriff charles lumley of grand junction phoned sheriff anat two counterfeiters counterfeit ers were en route west from mack and he asked the local officers to pick them up sheriff phoned deputy dails at thompsons Thomp sons to be on the watch tor them and the sheriff left immediately for that place when he reached thompsons Thomp sons he learned that the men had headed for sego thinking they were on the road to Green river the sheriff and deputy dails went on to sego where they picked the men up they gave their names as john ballanger and M H windsor in the automobile used by the men were found counterfeit nickels dimes quarters and halt dollars to talling 70 the fake coins had been stamped on one side only wooden blocks screw clamps and several pounds of scrap copper and aluminum which were used in making the coins were also seized the counterfeiters counterfeit ers were brought to moab and federal authorities at salt lake city were notified on tuesday morning william A merrill an agent of the U S secret service came down from salt lake city to take the men in custody agent merrill took the alleged counterfeiters counterfeit ers to salt lake city where they will be tried in federal court on a charge of having counter felt coins in their possession according to sheriff lumley of grand junction ballanger has a long criminal record and Is wanted at several places for various offenses |
