Show DEATH CALLS I 1 ELMER PIONEER J A oss elmer for many years a resident of moab died suddenly tuesday morning of a heart attack following a brief illness mra elmer was alone when he passed away his condition was not considered especially serious and about eight or nine tuesday morning some friends called on him he was in bed but stated that he was feeling good and believed he would be able to get up within a day or two about ten clock reuben walker called at his room to see how tie was getting along he found mr elmer dead in his bed and life had evidently been extinct for at least half an hour mr elmers children residing in california and arizona were immediately notified of his death they are now on their way to moab and should arrive thursday night or friday morning funeral services will be held friday mr elmer as about 65 years of age he is survived by two sons and to daughters who are arthur elmer pasadena calif lee elmer ventura calif mrs inez odonnel phoenix ariz and mrs may bush monrovia calif joseph austin elmer was one of the early pioneers of moab coming here from payson in 1886 he resided here except for occasional absences for over 40 years he married miss gilla empey who died about 25 years ago for a number of years past mr elmer had resided with his children in california returning to moab last spring he was engaged in prospecting and had located a large number of mining claims in this section oss elmer had a host of friends throughout grand bounty he was generous to a fault and would always share his last dime with a friend or someone in want his passing will be sincerely mourned throughout all eastern utah |
