Show MEETING OF MOAB TOWN BOARD HELD the monthly meeting of the board of town trustees was held monday evening president H S rutledge and trustees D E baldwin W R me mcconkle it J pletcher and george A newell being present the damage done to moab streets by the breaking ot of irrigation ditches during the past season was discussed and the board decided that in the future the careless handling of water will not be tolerated the directors of the moab irrigation company will be asked to tp meet with the town board at its next meeting on nov 4 at i which time a will win be adopted to protect the streets from flood waters the cooperation of the tion company will be asked and regulations will be adopted governing the use of water next year the question of street lighting was discussed por for the past three years the cost of street lighting has kept the towns treasury virtually bankrupt and the town board has hw decided that a substantial reduction in lighting costs must be brought about the contract covering street lighting expired sept 1 and the board will vill insist on a new deal before entering into another contract the clerk was instructed ted to ask the utah power Ss light company to send a representative to meet with the town board on nov 4 to discuss the light situation and terms tor for a new contract for the past put three years street lighting costs have taken about one half of the towns revenues with the result that there have been no funds for street repair and other improvement pro work len woodruff recently appointed deputy sheriff was appointed town marshal effective oct 1 the following citizens were appointed judges of election to serve at the town election on nov 5 district no 1 I george P powell henry or orinus mm and D A johnson district no 8 dr J W williams L and neal ray R 0 dark clark and 11 W balsley went to price on a business mission minion saturday evening they returned monday miss maine left sunday tor for salt lake city whery she will again attend the university of utah during the coming term |
